If I have a knowledgeable hands-on partner, do I still need a doula?

YES! When Doulas and partners work together, it is a powerful support team. A doulas role is incredibly unique. She is not going through a transition like the father is. The doulas training allows her to bring a wide variety of knowledge to both parents. A doula relieves the pressure of the partner to be all of the support and remember everything under stress.

FAQ’S

Can I Use my HSA/Can I set up a payment plan?

An initial deposit is needed after signing the contract to secure my availability for that month. After that I do my best to meet your needs and am happy to set up a plan that works for you. You can easily pay with your HSA dollars through an invoice sent directly to your email.

Are birth outcomes really better with a doula?

The studies have shown that doula care is associated with higher apgar scores, 9% drop in use of pain medication, 12% increase in spontaneous vaginal births, 31% drop in the use of pitocin, 28% fewer cesareans, and an increased success in breastfeeding. Lastly a 35% decrease in overall negative birth experience. I love those numbers!

What areas do you serve?

I serve the city of Grand Rapids as well as the West Michigan area. I stay within an hour distance of my home (sometimes birth happens fast) and comfortably have attended births in Kalamazoo, Holland, Zeeland and Lansing.
